“Counseling is a powerful gift. It’s something we can do for ourselves to make our lives better, more joyful, more complete.”

A Powerful Gift

His Story Coaching and Counseling provides services for children ages 5 and up, teens, adults, couples (marital and premarital) and families. Our counselors are trained to address issues which may include mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, self-esteem and boundary issues, life changes, addictions, victims of abuse and other trauma, as well as communication and relational issues. Counseling sessions typically last 50 minutes in length.
His Story counselors provide professional, confidential and non-judgmental counseling services. We accept clients wherever they are in the personal journey and walk alongside them through life’s struggles so they are not alone. Counseling is a collaborative relationship in which the counselor helps the client identify and work through issues that are challenging the client from achieving emotional, mental, developmental or relational health. Whether the challenge is negative thinking, unhealthy emotional processing, or issues from your family of origin, we exist to help you learn how to transform your thinking and align your emotions with truth so you can have a healthier life.

We use researched counseling methods to address client issues, which may include: mood and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, life transitions, grief, self-esteem and boundary issues, communication difficulties, developmental struggles, abuse and other trauma, as well as relationship issues. Our His Story counselors are trained to work with clients age five and up in individual, pre-marital, marital, family, and group counseling. Clients ages 13 and up will be paired with same gender counselors.

Every counselor at His Story is either a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern (LPC-I) or a Practicum student working toward their masters degree in counseling.

Fees & Discounts

We are often asked the question, how much does counseling cost? It is very important to us that people who are in need get help regardless of ability to pay. We are not able offer our services for free, but we do offer a sliding scale that is based on household income to make it more affordable.

We are a practicum site for training students from several local graduate level counseling programs, including Dallas Theological Seminary, Dallas Baptist University, and Texas Women’s University. For clients that cannot afford our regular fees, we can offer reduced fees for sessions with practicum students from these programs.

We also offer discounts to referrals of agencies that are partners with His Story Coaching and Counseling (e.g., GRACE, We are Cherished, Real Choices, and Dallas Christian College).

Our top fee for counseling is $95 per 50-minute session to see a Licensed Counselor. Our top fee to see a practicum student is $65 per 50-minute session. The fee to see a counselor with a PhD is $110. A consult with the Executive Director is $135.  These fees are significantly below community standard rates. Due to high demand for our services, we require 24 hours’ notice for cancellation of an appointment. We charge a $35 cancellation fee for missed appointments or for those cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice.
