Matthew LaGrange founded His Story Coaching and Counseling in 2011 and has assembled an outstanding team of certified life coaches and licensed counselors offering comprehensive mental health care located in the DFW Metroplex.

Born and raised in southern Indiana, Dr. LaGrange attended Marian College in Indianapolis majoring in psychology. After graduating cum laude, he went on to St. Louis University where he studied clinical psychology, earning a Masters of Science Degree with distinction in 1992. He completed his doctorate at Purdue University in clinical psychology in 1996.

Dr. LaGrange came to Texas in 2003 after being called into full-time ministry at Highland Meadows Christian Church and was asked to oversee the pastoral care ministries at the church that includes pastoral counseling, Stephen Ministry, and Celebrate Recovery. Outside of his Executive Director role at His Story, Dr. LaGrange has served for the past 4 years as the chair of psychology at Dallas Christian College.

Melissa Lawver is a Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor and is the Director of Counseling at His Story Coaching and Counseling. Melissa graduated cum laude from Baylor University with her BA in Psychology and went on to receive her MA in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. Melissa joined the counseling staff at Compass Christian Church in 2007 and transitioned with the staff to launch His Story Coaching and Counseling in 2011 as the Director of Counseling.

Jody Jones is a Licensed Professional Counselor and is the Director of Operations and The Perissos Ministry at His Story Coaching and Counseling. Jody has two Masters Degrees, one from UNT and one from DBU and served on a local church staff for over a decade after a previous decade in the corporate world for a fortune 500 company. Jody joined the His Story staff in 2018 and carries a counseling client load while overseeing Perissos, a  ministry for ministers, teaching, and speaking. He is a certified Connection and Recovery Therapist focusing on Sex and Love Addiction, a trained EMDR Therapist and ordained minster. Jody and his wife Alicia, have two adult children and reside in North Richland Hills.

 

Recent speaking events include Men’s Breakfast of Porn and Sex Addiction, The KISD Rise Up Summit, the BISD Emotional Wellness Symposium, the UNT Equity and Diversity Conference, The NWISD Community Conference & Expo as well as monthly training videos for Perissos.

Mark Nixon has been engaged in helping others and speaking publicly since he was 16 years old. At 18 he became a 12 step counselor for the Palmer Drug Abuse Program working with teenagers, parents and with church and community leaders to provide alternative peer groups to families struggling with drug use and addiction. 

Professionally, Mark joined IBM in 1981 and six years later began assignments teaching, mentoring and coaching clients and employees full time. After serving as a guest instructor, he was promoted to manage the US IBM training program for I/T management consultants. The remainder of his career with IBM, Mark served as a consultant, manager and senior development project manager. 

Since 2010 Mark has volunteered as a Stephen Minister at Compass Christian Church. Since 2015 Mark has been a His Story certified Christian life coach and in 2019 he certified as a business coach with IBM. Mark has recently retired from IBM and is working at His Story Coaching and Counseling. 

Mark is married and has four children and four grandchildren.
