Tom is the senior minister at First Christian Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has served this urban church since 2006. Before that, he served 18 years with South Telegraph Christian Church (south suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri) in various part and full-time ministry positions.
He earned a B.A. in Ministry from St. Louis Christian College in 1992 and Master of Education in Counseling from University of Missouri – St. Louis in 1995. He was inducted into Chi Sigma Iota, Counseling Honor Society in 1993.
Tom became a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri in 1997. His clinical practice was with Minirth-Meier and New Life Clinics from 1994-2006 serving individuals, couples and families with a wide variety of clinical issues.
He has served as Adjunct Professor of Psychology at St. Louis Christian College and Southwest University of Visual Arts in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Tom is a consummate “pastor’s pastor.” He understands the width of what ministry entails and the depth of what it takes to thrive, not just survive, in God’s call.
His coaching, consulting and clinical skills have helped many ministry leaders from a wide variety of contexts. He has served individuals, families, churches/leaders and has partnered with churches, para-church organizations, and international ministries.
He has been a trusted confidant to most denominations, theological backgrounds, staff positions and personalities covering a variety of issues.
Tom lives every day in the ministry of leading, following, caring, failing and rejoicing. His discernment, transparency and engaging style strengthen his ability to encourage, support and be a confidant.
Tom has been married to Pamela since 1986 and have four children, a foster son, a future daughter-in-law, a dog and ten chickens that certainly keep the adventure, called life, alive.
