Jamie is a Licensed Professional Counselor. After working as a cardiothoracic intensive care nurse with the Veteran’s Administration, Jamie made the decision to transition from caring for people’s physical well-being to nurturing their mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness. In May 2017, she graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling. In addition to earning high honors, Jamie was humbled to be the 2017 recipient of the Excellence in Biblical Counseling award. Since coming to His Story in the spring of 2016, Jamie’s primary area of work has been trauma therapy. Jamie is trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD. Additionally, she is trained and pursuing certification in EMDR, and is also in the process of becoming a DBT-certified therapist. Jamie has a particular passion for connecting with adolescents, during a time when life can feel particularly confusing and overwhelming. Jamie’s personal philosophy includes providing an environment of acceptance and empathy and seeing herself as an equal partner with the client to guide their process of growth and change. Jamie has a desire to further pursue her education in counseling and hopes to begin her journey toward a PhD soon.
Jamie resides in the Dallas area with her husband (1999) and their 2 children. She enjoys classical music, time with her family, and coffee with a friend.
